So this may have already been discussed, but I was just reading about the new GT500 and it does the 1/4 mile in a blistering 13.1 secs. Harldy seems like its worth what they're asking for it. Or may it just be a traction issue?
1999 Ram Air Trans Am. M6

SFC( not sure what kind), drilled/slotted rotors, K&N air filter, all free mods, 3" Borla cat back exaust, electric exaust cut out, NGK spark plugs, royal purple motor oil, and Zaino .Maybe more. I find more stuff done to it everytime I look at it.

I was guessing it had to be a bit quicker because of the mph. Everything I was reading said 13.1 @ 115. I thought 115 was a bit fast for a 13 second car.

They actually made quite a few passes in the car. I didn't read it myself, just regurgitating the info here. First pass when the car was hot was 12.71 @ 115 or something like that. I know I'm off a bit. Hell, I'm off a lot.

the new MT has a road test with a "regular" C6. It could only keep up.

They're talkin about making the "Super" Corvette (whatever name they decide on) with a supercharged V8 pumping out 600 horses and reducing the weight to 2800#s. Hmmmmm

                      So that begs the question...

                      Will you get one?

I wrote the dealership the deposit check the same day I picked up my 06Z. If the car comes out with 600 ponies, that won't be enough to justify my purchase. The weight has to be down near 2800#s to make it worth the $100,000 that they are speculating will be the price. My car already dyno'd at close to 475 RWHP which equates to close to 550 engine HP. If my car was a couple hundred pounds lighter, it would be an absolute monster.

Now, regarding the new GT500. They said they made it very difficult for someone to change pulleys to increase boost. I think all they did was make the aftermarket companies happy. It'll be hard to find a GT500 on the street that hasn't been modded. My prediction is that with a pulley change, cai, cold air kit and tune, the car will be pushing 525RWHP give or take. Probably more.

I read somewhere that the "Super Vette" aka "Blue Devil" is on its way to production with the "Stingray" name. Pretty cool if that is the case!

I really like the new GT500. I wish they had found a way to make it lighter though. I also wish they had picked a better production wheel for it, but the overall design is pretty sexy so with just a simple wheel swap it will be good to go. I think it would look sweet with one the 20" wheels that come on the Roush GT editions.
