  • CRUNCH!!! The beater is dead...

I was driving home from work on Thursday. I was driving about 45-50 in a 45 zone. I was coming up to an intersection in which I had a green light. As I proceeded to go straight, an elderly woman going the oppsite direction decided to make a left infront of me. I hit the brakes & swerved, but I knew that I was going to hit her. The next thing I remember I am getting out of the car on the side of the road. It seems that our front ends collided & we both spun to the side of the road. I collided with a 3rd car & she hit a telephone pole. I left an 8 inch skid mark. That is all the time I had to react. I wasnt wearing a seatbelt. My head cracked the windsheild, chest hit the steering wheel bending the wheel & the steering collumn. The cars is definitly totaled. I went to the hospital where I was released as was the elderly woman. Her insurance is picking up the tab. That about sums it up. Now I have to get another daily driver. I hope the insurance gives me a decent amount for it. Im actually very upset. My car wasnt worth more than 1500 on a good day... BUT IT RAN GREAT!! I had replaced most of the engine parts when I first bought it two years ago with a blown head gasket. There is no way I will be able to get as good of a car with only $1500.

Its hard to tell from the pic.. But the drivers front wheel is pushed back into the fender.
    No F-Body right now

It's not totalled! A little duct tape and some Zaino and it would be just fine.

At least everyone is okay. Without your belt on, it could have been much, much worse....

I always heard a ride in an ambulance was worth a few bucks, but I never tried it. And you don't have to accept what her insurance company offers you if you are not in a hurry.

I'm glad it was the beater, and not the Camaro. Glad you are OK too.

                belts

Good reason to wear belts. Never know when some idiot is going to do something stupid. Have watched quite a few crashes at the drags and saw many a driver walk away from bad wrecks, unharmed due to safety equipment.
