41... and still very effective.Originally posted by 02 WS6Yzerman was a great leader. It was his time to retire. He was like 63.

He came in to the league when he was 18 in 1983 (I was 1), and was made the captain when he was 21.Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

Good riddance to Ben Wallace. Everyone is upset that we lost him - I personally think unloading a 20% free throw shooter (yes, he really did shoot 20% in the playoffs this year) with an overinflated ego and salary can only help the team.Originally posted by PUREPWRBoo Who Who, all i got to say is the Ben Wallace agrees to 4 year atleast 52 million with the Bulls so that is just another thing to weep about. No one will miss his lack of offensive ability, his -baby attitude when he doesn't get the ball, his lack of discretion in speaking out publicly about coaching philosophies, or his 20% free throw percentage. -baby attitude when he doesn't get the ball, his lack of discretion in speaking out publicly about coaching philosophies, or his 20% free throw percentage.

We'll miss his defending abilities, sure... but if they can get even an adequate defender to replace him, it shouldn't be hard to find someone more valuable in the other aspects.Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

He was 41, but in his later years, very injury prone. The Red Wings are good enough talent-wise, to win without him. Plus, it's not like his leadership helped them through the playoffs this year. They just played poorly. They looked very undisciplined out there... not like Detroit at all.Originally posted by Jay 02 TA ws641... and still very effective.

I have a similar situation. Bettis retiring is a bigger blow to the locker room and huddle than his abilities. He slowed a bit the last couple years, but he was a great leader on and off the field. I won't really miss Bettis' wheels as much as his presence, just like you won't miss Yzerman on the ice as much as will with him on the bench.SOLD: 2002 Trans Am WS.6 - Black on Black - 6 Speed

 ooooh a hockey post!

I like Yzerman but hate Detroit, ever since I was friends a girl in highschool who liked them.....

It's sad to see him go, he always had the ability to step up and realy lead the team, at the end the regular season he continued to do that. I have to wonder who is going to be the captian next year probably Chelios (who should retire).

I am a Sens fan, I was hoping to see Detroit/Ottawa cup run but that failed to happen (dam Hasek :P) maybe this season...94 Formula Firebird, 355, heads port and polished, cc503 cam, 30# injectors, PCMforless Tune, B&M 2400 stall, K&N CAI, BBK Sorty Headers, Magnaflow Highflow Cat, Borla Catback exhaust with electronic cutout.

 I'd say 70% Lidstrom, 15% Draper, 10% Zetterberg, and 5% Shanahan.

I really really don't want Lidstrom to get it though... I think he is the most overrated player in the league. I'm not saying he's bad - he's very good - but I don't think he's worth anywhere near the amount of Norris trophies he's won.Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.
