Fastest Street Car magazine is doing a buildup on an LS1 Camaro and reporting the results. Last month they went from bone stock, 9.13 at 80mph, to a best of 7.94 at 85mph. The mods were cold air intake, red line oil, 4" exhaust, underdrive pulley, diablo tuning, TCI super streetfighter converter and trans. The biggest jump was from the converter and trans with an .8 jump in 1/8th mile times. This month they took out the wimpy 7.5 rear and replaced it with a 4.10 geared 9", with 35 spline axles. The extra rotating weight of the 9" actually slowed the car down a tenth. To 8.06 at 84.00 mph.
There was some wheelspin with the 4.10 gear and MT radials, so this could account for some of the ET loss. They are planning more mods so they needed the extra beef of the 9". Just goes to show you the track is the true indicator of performance gained. I like this mag, (FSC), better than all the other rags out there as it is strictly a performance mag.
