Man 2,000 is a steal! The car has to be stripped to the chassis. That includes EVERYTHING in the engine bay....to do it correctly.

April be careful letting somebody do an incomplete color change on your car. If they leave out commonly neglected areas, it could actually lower the value of your car. Color change paint jobs involve a bunch of labor and are usually VERY expensive.

If you are worried about keeping the value of your car, then I would stick with something pretty close to your red. You could always add a little flake or some pearl to it. But, if you really don't mind doing a partial color change then go for it. All that matters is what makes April happy.

Even that is cheap for a complete color change.

If you don't like the color of your car, your best move is to buy one that is in the color you want. Personally, just stay with the red and, like Kev said, add some flake or pearl if you want to make it stand out. Just my dos centavos.

$2000 is barely enough to cover the labor involved in disassembling the car and reassembling it after the color change, not including any paint or prepwork. A properly done color change paintjob should cost anywhere between $7,000 to $10,000 or even higher. $5000 would be a good deal, and anything less than that would indicate to me that major corners are being cut and the job is less than optimal.

Good luck with whatever you decide on. I would recommend you pick a really pretty red and go with that. I used to have an 88 Iroc that was repainted a slightly different shade of red than stock, it was actually more red, less orange than stock. it looked great, and the jambs were a close enough match that it was not noticable.
