I'm from California so I can tell you of some sites.

A must see in my trips is the Sierra Mountains Sequoia National Park, a true wonder of Nature! The trees are immense... the diameter of the branches are 6 feet . I've camped there several times (you could rent a cabin also) and probably is one of places I truely miss most about California. This is a must see

After the the sierra's is owens vally, there are some natural hot springs that are fun to take a dip in

Death valley ... badwater (lowest point in werstern hemisphere), abandoned mines, abandoned towns, Scotty's Castle, Devils golfcourse, furnace creek , 20 mule team carrying borax

Near Death Vally, is the Meteor crater (Just inside Arizona)

Oh I didn't see it on your list ... Grand teton national park ... a must seee

Thanks for the ideas! The tetons were on my list, actually, I just forgot to mention them. I remember that my mom and dad, when they made their trip, saw the meteor crater and the sequioas, so I'll be sure to put those on my list as well.

The Meteor crater is really cool. I had forgotten it.
