  • know when to hold em, know when to fold em....

know when to walk away, know when to ruuuuuuunnnnnn!

what do wolfdogs like to chew on the most? parts removed from your deck when you repaired it. You discarded it, it now is thier property!!!!!!!!!

so.....good old Rock...our 5 yr old golden retriever, that Keona loves and won't mess with....decides he'll come up and see whats so good to chew on.....

wolves and wolfdogs put up a big bluff... youv'e seen the Discovery Channel im sure.. wolves feeding, and the pack seniors turn away the young ones who try and butt in before they are done eating the fresh kill.. quite a show of snarling fangs, but it's only a threat...very rarely is anyone even come close to being bitten.....

    so...Rocky comes closer.........

I can see Rocky does'nt understand this first show of "forget it, dude".....

so i call him away, he comes over to me......and Keona gives the both of us one last sweet "outta my face, this is mine".......LOL

yup, know when to fold em.....even though i know she would'nt bite me, why put her through the humilation and having to play "bad ass alpha" with her, show her respect... we backed away...

and she moved it behind her and contiued her chew...... :drink: LOL

think ill post the next to the last pic on the front door for solicitors.......

My wolfdog was great - except for a couple episodes. Him and my dobe killed my cat one day. And another time he stole two boxes of goldfish food which was a huge mystery until I staked out the place and caught him sneaking in the back door, eating the cat food without breaking a stride, and looking for other stuff to eat, so I jumped out and scared him so bad he pissed all over the floor, so I got to clean that up, too

He never chewed stuff up, but i once gave him an entire Christmas ham and he ate it all in 2 days then slowly ate the bone.

He was a lot like an ordinary large dog except when he got in a fight. Then he was in another world. He used to like camping int he desert and he would go out at night and kill coyotes.

wolves hate coyotes... funny, being of the canis family... but they hate em.

dont have to worry about coyotes comming around my place with the wolf urine marking she does... a few have been spotted in our area, but no where near my house, and im glad. ...the goldens wouldnt know what to do im sure...

they are mischevious, no two ways about it...LOL

We have lots coyotes around here. It drives all the dogs in the neighborhood crazy when the coyotes start howling and yapping after dark. Every now and then you'll see a few on our road, but they are usually pretty skittish.

I came across one when I was jogging once. He jumped a fence about 10 feet in front of me. The coyote just tucked his tail and hauled ass....it still got my heart pumping though because we have lots of mountain lions and bobcats around here also and I didn't know what it was at first.

The coyotes around here are pretty small. Maybe 30-40 lbs at the most. They look just like this:

We have a pretty good coyote population in this area. About a year ago, a pack that had been roaming one of the neighborhoods in our town was caught and released into a reserve upstate. The reason they moved them was this pack was resposible for at least three cat killings.

The amazing part about it was, two of the coyotes from the pack were over 60 pounds! I couldn't imagine coming face to face with that pack.

coyotes dont "pack"?? it must have been a small family. they are loners, traveling single, sometimes in pairs.

You will see a lot of loner coyotes here in TX, but you also will see family groups and even bigger groups of 5-6. Basically a 50/50 chance of seeing them either way here.

My fault. Must have been a family then. Our paper had been calling them a pack at the time, but it doesn't surprise me they were incorrect.
