  • Watch out for trucks.....

Hopefully this wont get me banned, because I am sure we have a few 50+ or at least close to 50 year old guys here, but I thought I would share.

Just read this article & it kinda scares me. Hopefully, they will test these guys more often than they do for a basic automobile license. Does anyone know how often you have to renew a CDL? Or what the test consists of? Do they check... Vision? Reaction Time? Or Quick Judgement Skills?

MO Class A/B CDL requires a DOT physical every 2 years and the license can be good up to 6 years. Without a valid up to date physical card, you are not allowed to drive "legally" any commercial class vehicle.....

Test consists of Vision, Hearing, Drug Screen and all the other goodies physicals have.....

CDL/HazmatAir Brake endorsed driver for over 15 years here...... Even though I havent driven a truck in over 6 years.... I keep it up to date to fall back on....

My personal take is,,, a bad driver is a bad driver whether they are in a truck or a car. Both can kill just the same. The question we should ask ourselves is, when is it appropriate to ask for the keys from our elders. But at the same time, not discriminate against those who can still function behind the wheel....
Its a hard decision to make, and hopefully I will be man enough when my time comes to hand over the keys when I become a danger to those around me and myself....

personally i dont use age as a reason why a person should/should not drive, my grandpa (whos in his late 70's) drive alot better than some of the people in my generation (im 23) and younger. they should definately become stricter with licensing though.
