  • Anyone know about Dextron 6 ATF???

    Hey everyone,
I am about to do the 30k mile maintenence on my Regal GS. I got the car only 2k miles ago, so I am going to do EVERYTHING assuming that nothing was done before. That way I know how old everything is.

    -Air Filter
    -Cabin Air Filter
    -Fuel Filter
    -PCV Valve
    -Coolant Flush
    -New Belts
    -Mobil 1 10W30
    -AC Delco Filter
    -AC Delco Rapid Fire Plugs
    -Stock GM Plug Wires
    -Transmissions fluid flush & filter

My only question has to do with the trans flush. I was going to use Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. However, while browsing the forums over at regalgs.org, I ran accross a post where most people were aggreeing that Dextron6 is better? I have never heard of Dextron6. Does anyone have expirence with this fluid? Thoughts? Info?

    Thanks for your help,
    Mark B

Dexron is GM's trademark for ATF. The T56 manual for example even used Dexron II and then Dexron III. Now they have come out with Dexron VI for the 6-speed automatic used in the rear wheel drive cars.

This was the only link I could find with a 15 second search:

So, does Dexron VI replace Dexron III like Dexron III did to Dexron II/IIE? From the doc that you linked to, it sounds like it does, but there's no real definitive statement on it.
