  • GT says no!!!

On the "expressway" when I catch up to a new mustang GT. I get next to him put it in 2nd going 50. Bring her to about 5000 and put the go fast pedal down so he could hear the LT's. (both vehicles have windows down) I then bring it down to about 40 with NO traffic in front. I wave him to come next to me. He gets next to me and mouths "I have no chance" as he shakes his head. I nod in agreement and make my merry way. You gotta love getting the respect.

Anyone else run into any new GT's?

I can see why...100 fewer advertised ponies at the crank.

perhaps his wisdom kept you from getting a hefty fine or worse.

      Agreed!

Although i usually keep it pretty tame on the street. I'll only take it up to 90 or so on the expressway.

Keep that Z06 away from me. No telling how fast I would get going CHASING it from the bus lenghts you put on me!

Stock versus stock, they are pretty close. I'd give the nod to the Mustang if it were a 5M. However, once you start modding, all bets are off.

My buddy has a lightly modded 05 5M that runs 12.60s. It's very strong for what he has in it.

I also have buddies with modded GTO's. Most are LS1s. They run about the same.
LS15 Power! Another LSx engine coming soon.

Before I left TX I was at San Antonio Raceway almost every weekend. I saw quite a few stock '05-'06 Mustang GT's (5M) running 13.30's on solid runs.

That's also about what I saw the LS2 Goats running also.

I wouldn't discount how fast the new 5M's are. And the go fast parts for Stang's are pretty cheap.

The new Mustang Shelby GT500 is over 500 HP.

I hope GM stuffs a monster powerplant in the 5G Camaro.

I would've said the LS1 goats would have no problem with Mustang GT's either, but I am not familiar with what "5M" means.

I was referring to the 300 hp Mustang GT.

5M is just the equivalent of saying M6 in the f-body world. It implies the 5 speed manual Tremec trans. Just like most cars in stock form, the manuals are slightly faster than the automatics.

Just a CAI and gears can get a 05 or newer Mustang GT into the 12's.

If people are walking the Mustang GT's in their LS2 boats...........ahem....Goats, then the Mustang drivers must have missed "snack time!"

see..."real" car buffs do the math and see the light before the switch is flipped... take the curb weight of the stang and 300hp and do the math...power to weight... do the same with the gto....... no brainer...

                        besides..

the gto is a classy ride with the one of the best interiors and cruise stance of any perf car ever made... not some cheaped out retro wannabe that you see on every street corner and everyother parking place at the local mall.......with some kid wearing a baseball cap backwards and daddy's credit cards......

You should talk to your doctor about that problem. I can't help you there!

You LS2 owners need to go spend some time at the track and see just how close the LS2 Boat and the new Mustang GT's really are. Math looks good on paper, but the times at the track are indisputable. Boils down to a driver's race, and we've all witnessed how most Mustang drivers are.

Don't worry folks, Ken is confused, because he doesn't know it, but his wife Mary has secretly been switching female hormones for his Ensure. That's why he is always bitchy, has man boobs, and wears a man purse when he goes to the gym!

                            I would've said the GT's prolly run mid-high 13's while the LS2 GTO's were runnin' high 12's. I thought the LS1 GTO's were neck and neck with the LS1 f-bodies, runnin' low 13's.

I'm just going by hearsay, etc. not actual time at the track.

what kind of gearing does a stock '05+ GT 5M have?

and still runs 13's!! (I'm sure real drivers will get more from it )
