  • Newbie's guide to using the forum

Here are a list of some helpful hints about using the site.

In order to post, there were a few rules
that you had to agree to:

    F-Body Message Board Rules
Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you agree to the terms, please press the Agree button at the end of the page. Note: By pressing the button you declare that you are over the age of 13. If you are 13 or under, please use this registration form.

Although the administrators and moderators of F-Body Message Board will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of F-Body Message Board or Jelsoft Enterprises Limited (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By clicking the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

The owners and moderators of F-Body Message Board have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

    That basically translates into:
No cursing, no sexually oriented material, no flaming, no threats, no breaking the law.

    Pretty simple, really.
Also...... no posting in all capital letters. It is considered yelling in print and the offending posts will be deleted.

Also try to refrain from posting threads such as: "My friend thinks his econocar is faster and wants to street race, can I beat him?" All this does is foster illegal street races, something we do not condone. Take it to the track and not on the streets.

    ************************************************** ********

Since that is out of the way, the next feature is the search feature. Once you are on a forums topic page, the search button is in the upper right hand side, just below the page numbers. By clicking that button, you can enter key words of phrases and find any previous discussions (if any) on that topic. If you want to know anything about a particular brand of exhaust or whether you'll get a HP increase from a particular part, try this feature.

The next is the "reply" or "Quote" buttons. Clicking either will allow you to reply to a thread. Please note that if you use the quote button, all the quoted text and images will be transferred to the new post unless you edit them. Please edit out the images and keep the text only to save bandwidth.

Our Main page is a little dated, so at the moment the forum directory is incomplete. Here is a forum directory page that will help you navigate the different forums. Remember, tech questions go in the tech forum. Items for sale or wanted go in the Classified for Sale section. Everything else like car clubs, general discussions, etc. go in the off topic forum.

    ************************************************** *******

Here are a few more tips on the forum features from the FAQ page:

    http://www.f-body.com/forum/faq.php?

When posting a tech question, please include the year and model. It is necessary due to all the running changes and systems that occur over the years. Without this info, you may get the wrong tech help!

Also, when creating a custom signature, try to keep it to 10 lines...... that is more than enough to get a well sized photo and description at the bottom of your posts. In order to post a photo in either a post or a custom signature, the photo must exist somewhere on the web and a hot link is used to bring the picture to your signature or post. Many just use a web photo hosting service such as: http://reg.imageshack.us/register.php

Once you register, download photos and get the link codes, you post them in your signature using the appropriate tags. Taking the below address and adding the [img] and [/img] tags on either end of the link turns it from a link into a hot linked picture.

    http://img34.exs.cx/img34/4489/image142lh.jpg

with the appropriate tags becomes this:

Enjoy the forum and the friendships!

LOL.... I had intended to lock the thread initially. It was merely here to help the new folks on the board..... didn't even think that someone would post a reply.
