  • What's the brightest and whitest headlight bulb for street use?

I was looking at the PIAA 9000 Series Star White's. They burn at 3800K. But, then there are the Silverstars at 4000K. I just want a nice bright white replacement. I don't want one of those cheapo blue ricer bulbs.

Any opinions on which is a better bulb... or if you have another you like?

When I had my GTA and Sylvannia made Silverstar sealed bulbs or it, it burned much cleaner and whiter than the stock halogens.

I wish they made some that would fit my car now...no sizes are avaliable for 98+ applications. I'd buy a pair in a heart beat.

You could probably rig a set of Silverstar bulbs in a regular halogen assembly, but that requires too much work. LOL!

Not sure what else is out there...I've never dealt with any other types of lighting componets.

Is this for your Bird or Stang?

I have used the Silverstars and I liked them...They seemed like a brighter white compared to a stock halogen. Unfortunately I can't compare it to the Piaa bulbs...

The Stang. So those are easy to swap.

My friend had HID's in his stang. They where amazingly bright. But that's a different story, and a lot of people don't like HIDs

Check out the PIAA Extreme White Plus bulbs. They're rated at 4000K. I've been running the 9005s for the high beams, 9006s on the low beams on the Z for almost 2 yrs. now and love 'em. Check out http://www.partsbynet.com/piaa-bulbs.html for good prices on PIAA bulbs

Well, I don't want them so bright that I am blinding everybody in front of me. I just wanted a brighter whiter replacement. I've seen a few cars with those 5000K+ color temp headlights and they are way too bright for the street.

I had the PIAA 9000's in my '01 S10. They were great as far as clarity goes. I just happened to have the same problem that is common with them... Longevity. They lasted all of six months. I looked on a few forums and sure enough, it's a problem with them. At least it used to be.

As far as HID's go, I have them in my TL. I hated seeing someone else driving with them, but now that I have them, I love it. The light is so clear and defined. It's more like daylight than a washed out, yellowed light. Hard to explain, but I'm a huge fan. Every car I own from this point on has to have Xenons.

I was running some PIAA Xtreme Whites, or maybe Platinums, in a Caprice that had euro H-4 headlights. When one blew, I replaced it with the Silverstar. Much brighter bulb- I don't trust PIAA with their strange ratings, 45w=65w or whatever. They had the white color temperature, but didn't provide all that much brightness intensity. The Silverstars were much brighter, and cheaper, too.

Ok, thanks guys. It looks like the Silverstars it is. I have been hearing quite a bit about the PIAA bulbs not lasting very long.

Then I guess I've got a freak set, because mine are going on almost 2 yrs. without a problem.

I have some really bad lights in my S10. They are so yellow and dim. I guess I need to replace them today.
