every spring, when those of us with high mid content, or high content wolfdogs...and those with pure wolves, collect the hair when they molt (shed). we take the hair, put it in pillow cases, seal the pillow case and wash it. We then ship it to various indian tribes, depending on what your rescue org is connected with... mine in particular, we have a member on the board who is part Native American Indian, she lives in Oragon and has several high content wolfdogs of her own. So those of us in WRR and some others ship the hair to her (Woni). Woni then takes the hair out to a tribe she knows where it gets spun into yarn. Then Woni takes the wolfhair yarn, and begins knitting shalls, purses, and some other stuff with it... As you can imagine, its quite time consumming. Several of these shalls she sends to me for a fund raiser for our organization (see link in my signature.). It's strickly non profit, and we are 501(c)(3) Frederal Tax Exempt. The entire amount raised goes to wolfdog rescue and is tax deductable for the purchaser(s).
Anyway, i got an email from Woni last night, this years shalls are shipping next week to me. So if you know any women who would be interested in a shall made from wolf hair, PM me.
this one is called "Coral". I'm not sure what colors I'll have untill they arrive.
