Kevin had serious issues and began to threaten JR, myself and the board with legal action and a host of other garbage. He was habitually nasty to moderators via PM, and showed a dual personality type of behavior. Threatening others is a sure fire way to wear out your welcome. Unfortunate, but life goes on.

Kevin's "feud" was not limited to Joe. I speak from personal experience. It wasn't pleasant. Joe did NOT take the action solely because of his issues.

I really liked Kevin. I thought he added a lot to every thread he was involved in. However, our moderators do the best job on any forum I've ever even visited. Sometimes the rules may hinder on a humorous point you want to get across, but they are there for a reason. I feel completely safe allowing my kids, wife, and parents see the forum without hesitation.

It's an unfortunate situation, but these things happen I suppose.

I can agree with that! I've been frequenting message boards since 1996, this is the only one I ever considered to volunteer my time on. I may surf or post elsewhere, but this forum was always the cleanest and best run auto forum I had ever seen. So many others have members that want to push the envelope, belittle others that don't share their viewpoint, and in general make those boards a place that I just don't even care about. When I was asked to step up to moderator duties, I was honored. When I was asked to step up again to serve as an Admin, I humbly vowed to uphold the rules and regulations that made this a great place before I was even asked to be a moderator. Within the current membership, there are so few problems and that goes to show how great the members in here really are. Everyone conducts themselves with utmost integrity and are genuine in the help they try to provide, not to mention the off the wall debates and goofy stuff that pops up here on a regular basis. I truely cannot remember ever banning a regular member until this one and let me tell you, it was a long time coming. There were complaints from quite a few members due to nasty PMs, arrogant and insulting posts....... even toward moderators. When something didn't go the way this person thought it should be, the personal attacks started. Not only that, they escalated very quickly into a flame war like a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum. It was a painful decision, nobody (including myself) is above the rules and a line had to be drawn somewhere as the envelope was being consistantly pushed, many times it was a daily occurance. Regardless of the contribution, a person's conduct is still subject to the rules of the forum.

Unfortunatly, this makes a moderators job a dirty one. Many times we become the unpopular scapegoat for things not being the way another member wants it to be. When that happens, we all wish people can remember that moderators are only doing their job and we only get involved that way when forced to do so. Even then, to me it's a small price to pay considering what the board has done for me, the knowledge and experience gleaned from other members, and the general comradery that exists here. As unfortunate is the situation was, in a way it's a breath of fresh air. I haven't had one reported post, not one complaint of nasty PMs, not a whisper of arrogant and belittling comments since the member was banned. That in iteslf is a huge relief to not have to constantly get involved in those situations.

I'm sure the rest of the moderators feel the same way, we're here to serve the board that served us well.......... It's F-body.com forever! Let's all continue to make this the great place that it truely is.

I haven't nearly been here as long as anyone else. But in the time that I have been here it's been a gem of knowledge. The other day I was wondering what happened to Kev, I liked him because he was willing to give help as needed. But the mods and admins gotta do their job to keep this place in tip-top shape.
Over the summer a parent came up to me while I was coaching (he had a 95 camaro and knew I drove one). He had some questions that I couldn't answer so I gave him the link to this place. Knowing this place was clean and informative was a plus. If it wasn't I wouldn't have told him about it. So all in all, Kev was a plus, but the admins gotta do their job and as Joe says, its a dirty job but someone has to do it.

I've gone back and forth with that guy over PM many times. I totally agree with the above comment. I can see how a lot of people can get me wrong the way I come off on this board, but that guy took it to another level bombing me with PM's. He was passive aggressive and ignorant to say the least. He was always right, and liked to argue subjective things that had no real right or wrong answer. I won't miss him.

Too bad. When I joined the board he had a wealth of info to offer. I even bought a hood from him.

I guess that's what happens when you buy a pony car.

Just realized too, another member will have the chance to become part of the Dirty Dozen or has that been abolished too?

I've just recently joined this forum and from what i've noticed it is a nice forum with alot of knowledge and nice people. i've just recently turnd 21 and i do ALOT of street racing being around that type of crowd all of the time, the biggest thing that agitates me is when someone tries to make a younger or less knowledgeable person feel inferior. in my opinion there just isn't any room for people like that today, doing that to the wrong person could make the kid give up which is a horrible thing. but enough said i do enjoy this forum and hope that i can benefit as much as i get out of it.

No, he wasn't deleted. He resides with comfort in the "banned" section.

The "Dirty Dozen" was coined by someone a little while ago, a few of the moderators thought that the "group" or "club" or whatever created a false level of delineation, by longevity or status and that members should not be statused by a simple post count. We felt that everyone was an equal and that the "Dirty Dozen" thing should just fade away. It still pops up though......

I kind of coined that but as in the movie it wasn't meant as an elevation of a few but a poke at some rough guys (namely me) who came together to do some good.
