About the only other warplane I've seen that durable is the A-10.
I think the B-29 was known during WW2 to be nearly invinceable. According to the history channel, it would land at base with holes in the fusealage, the wings, and the tail...pretty durable machine

True, but during Desert Storm A-10's were landing with holes from not only bullets but also SAMs. I'd say that's pretty durable too
Yeah I know about this one. Its due to the amount of surface area on the rear tail plane. But I agree it does that a brave pilot to even attempt it. As for the A-10 yeah they can take a beating. Something I love about the A-10, they built the gun first and then designed the plane around it. Oh the reason it as two engines? The prototype with one was constanly forced back by the recoil of the massive 30mm.

It still does. The plane slows down several MPH ever time you fire the guns. That' got to be cool to fire that thing.
I've heard reports of when you fire it you can smell the gun powder inside the sealed cockpit. And for pilot protection it is second to , the pilot sits in a titanium 'Bathtub' as they call it. Military info is one of my passions, no I'm not a Soldier of Fortune or anything but my dad took me to my first airshow when I was six and all I can remember about it is seeing the Thunderbirds there for the first and only time. Sent me over the top and I started reading up on just about everything military, few things I don't know but I love learning new stuff everyday.
I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see the pictures in the video!
If you haven't had the chance to see the F-22 (F-15 replacement) fly, then check out an airshow near you. At the last airshow at Andrew's AFB here in DC, they had one fly straight up, just about stop in midair and then pitch down and accelerate horizontally, without any apparent loss in altitude. Incredible!

In my hanger are:
(5) F-4 Phantom
(4) B-2 Stealth bomber
(2) F-117 Stealth fighter
(4) L-39 Albatros
(9) F-16 Falcon
(4) F-22 Raptor
(5) A-7 Corsair
(5) 747s

plus another 12 various designs that are not scale military replicas. I've got more of an airforce than some 3rd world countries.
Next up will be a few versions of the F-18 Hornet and the A-10 Thunderbolt (Warthog). After that, I need some F-14s and F-15s. I'm addicted way more than I like to admit.
