  • 632 rotating assembly arrived

Well it took awhile but the rotating assy for the 68 finally arrived. I will soon be punishing drag slicks once again. It's been almost 4 years since I've been in a stupid fast car. Had the trans checked out and even though it had only 4-5 runs on it the brass thrust washer was cracked in the planetarys. Was told by JW that flywheel flex, (pushing the input shaft deeper into the trans), could be causing that problem.
Pulled everything out to inspect before assembly and checked piston and rod weights. Rods were good at 1 gram spread. Pistons had a 3 gram spread. I will mix and match the assy to get the closest weight match.

Something about large and shiny new engine parts makes me shiver.

I really miss brutal speed too, but the fact is that I don't feel as indestructable anymore.

Started the rod clearence process today. Its not fun grinding on the block for hours. They clearence this block at Dart up to a 4.5 inch stroke. For a few extra minutes on the milling machine they could have saved me hours of work.
