  • MD wolfdog crisis update, pics...

the ACO's office has been very cooperative in Somerset County. two young ladies working long hours trying to help us (WRR) make arrangements and find potential adopters for the 14 adults and 2 7 week old pups. one adult female is pregnant it turns out... we are not sure what we are going to do with her...where to send her.. adopting her out is going to be near impossible.

i spoke with the breeder yesterday..... just a "good old boy" that knew nothing a bout the laws in MD and is scared to death of the authorities.... it was hard for me to be real nice to him on the phone though...after finding out that one female was chained up and her collar imbedded in her neck. the wound has been attended to by the Somerset shelter and she's on the recovery.

the guy is around 64...retired bus driver.... breeding for "extra bucks".... diplorable conditions for the animals, although the ACO said they all seem to really love him and he loves them.

he inbred all these. yup.... they all got their start from his original male and female. a friend of his in VA has been approved to take his alpha male... we are having him nuetered first though..... no more of this crap! so brothers and sisters mated.... and their kids mated. found out he's sold 25+ to folks in Del., MD, and VA combined. so far, of these have shown signs of being nutso from the inbreeding.

anyway, as you can see by this picture that the sheriff took and the ACO scanned for me...they didnt have the best living conditions... note the short fence height....

funny..this all started because the neighbor reported these are "wolves".... then they got down gradded to "mid content wolfdogs" by the breeder......then i saw the pics....and called him to the plate and he admitted i was right, to the ACO as well..... folks........these are extremely low content wolfdogs.... the younger they are...the even less wolf in them...to the point where its questionable that the younger ones are even wolfdogs....

we dont want to see them go to a sanctuary. they are not sanctuary material... that will ruin them... they are house pet material. the puppies are adorable... placing animals like this in a sanctuary is like sending someone to maximum security prision for a speeding ticket.....when they come out...if they do....they are ruined....

Some nice looking animals in there- wish I could help, but my menagerie is pretty full. Those canines deserve better treatment than they were getting, they need someone to rub those furry ears and scratch their belly- Hope they make out okay.
