  • Aftermarket parts question....

Well, not really parts, but....last week I bought off ebay what was supposed to be brand new GM floor mats from a dealership for my T/A. I got them yesterday, they look completely the same, but do not carry the GM logo like my original mats do. The carpet pile looks a little "not as plush" as my originals, too. I am truly assuming these are genuine GM since I purchased them from a dealership who carries many sets of these, but if they were genuine GM, why wouldn't GM even put their logo on them? Yes, they are aftermarket replacements, but it doesn't make sense to me Any ideas?
1996 White T/A, LT-1 auto with only aftermarket Flowmasters, shift kit, and a LG Motorsports G2 cold air kit.....that's it! She can't eat all the 'Stangs but will die trying.

If I had to guess, GM doesn't manufacture replacements indefinately. It is quite possible that in this case the part is now supplied by a secondary source according to the specifications set by GM and would not likely contain a GM insignia. Eventually all the parts go the same course. The main thing that you would have to find out is if this is a dealer choice to carry these replacements or is it a forced decision by the factory.

Thanks Joe! When I leave my feedback for them today I am going to email them about the mats. I'm sure I'm not the only one that questions this. Thanks!
