I saw that picture a couple of days ago. You could throw a pony sadle on that dog. I rode a boxer when I was kid.

          Absolutely B.S.

That is a Neopolitan Mastiff, a rare breed that I'm still not even sure the AKC recognizes yet. They get very big, not as big as the straight Mastiff though.

I'm also sure a mixed breed of some sort would be more likely to get overly-large, (not as much as in the pic) rather than a pure breed dog.

          Nice try, though!!

Ken, in that second link you provided, the about.com site, it says at the bottom that this photo is a photoshop and the animal pictured is not "Hercules". Also, the first link you provided, while the animal is very large, it does not seem to be nearly as big as in the first photo in question. I'm calling photoshop on this one.

My buddy had a Neopolitan Mastiff. He had to put him down a couple of months ago due to a brain tumor.

He was about 5 years old and weighed around 120 lbs.
Beautiful dog and despite his size was really a huge teddy bear. (with a whole lot of slobber.... )

                        RIP Grayson. Good boy.

can you imagine scooping up after a galoot that size?

I'm glad I don't have to pooper scoop after my tiny little St. Bernard.
