"we are the law, meaning we can do whatever we want like go 91 mph and you cannot say anything about it - so suck it"

That's what I get out of the whole shabang

    Edit: to add on
I'm hearing there's another great angle to this story. Apparently NJ State Trooper Union President Davey Jones publicly outed the popular host of NJ's biggest radio station, Craig Carton and his family, by giving out his home address and license plate number at a live press conference.

Jones allegedly threatened to release tons of dirt on the talk show host, who has been critical of the State Trooper who crashed the speeding SUV that had been carrying Gov Corzine. He also threatened to that the personal information of Carton's co-host Ray Rossi would be released next, followed by the radio station's GM.

In an effort to protect his family Carton pulled the show off the air with the full support of station management until his safety can be guaranteed.

Radio Station WKXW is asking whether or not Jones broke the law with these public statements.

No offense to DJ Taso but every police officer I have ever met even in casual situations was like that. "Do as I say not as I do." Every single one of them was on a power trip. They became cops just so they could get away with it.

There are a mix of officers who are insane and others who are understand their position and job as an officer.

I had this cop who pulled me over for expired tags in Snellville...my tags weren't expried to my knowledge, there was clerical error when I changed insurance...and this cop had total powertrip. He treated me as if I was a criminal. Grab my keys and threw them on this hood. He was totoally unprofessional. My car was towed and I kept asking him why this was needed and he wouldn't reply. He just kept telling me my tag was expired. I told him, whatever the case, it's not my fault. Anyways, my car was towed, the front end was scraped, bent my exhuast tips and practically ripping off my rear bumper becuase the prick who towed it just drove it right up the flat bed...I was freaking furious. The cop made me sign my citation and took off, leaving me on the side of the road! Tripped me out...I'm like WTF?!?!? I went to court and they threw it out...but the cop was an arse!

Now, most cops that I dealt with were cool. I get pulled over a whatever reason and being polite usually ease tension and they tend to be friendly. But yeah...sometimes, the power goes right to their head.

I'm not a big fan of most (not all) cops. Here in NJ, they get paid huge salaries and have bad attitudes. In my town, which is less than 1 square mile, we have 13 cops. The average base salary is $75,000. With overtime they average $125,000 each. If you dare speak against them, you get called anti-patriotic with some dumb a$% statement like "Do you know how dangerous their job is?" and "They died in the World Trade Center you know...they need our support."

In Edison, it was published in the newspaper that the average cop, not including officers, makes $89,500 base before overtime. With overtime, they make well over $125,00 per year. We are holding a Carnival to raise money for our local church. We have to hire 12 cops and pay them $50 per hour each...so say'ith the town. It come out to well over $12,000...just to hold a fund raiser.

Cops are supposed to protect and serve and represent the average citizen. They are now the elite in social privileges and salary in nearly every town.

It's really gotten out of control...

The whole controversy has been blown out of proportion by two stupid loudmouths on an ego trip.

Craig Carton, small-town, 2-bit "shock jock", one of the local radio station's "Jersey Jerks" (ooopppps... that's "Jersey Guys") creates as much controvery as he can in the hope that he will be the next Howard Stearn or Oppie/Anthony and get booted upstairs to a big XM/Sirius radio contract. He took a couple of message board posts and turned it into a cause celebre by ranting about it for 5 hours straight on their afternoon drive time radio show.

He hung the bait out, and one truely stupid individual, David Jones, President of the NJ State Troopers Fraternal Association took the bait like a real sucker, and shot his mouth off with threats to virtually everyone in existance, and stupidly released Carton's personal info including address, license plate number, etc.

The whole thing it a battle between two big-mouthed morons, neither of which deserves to retain their jobs. I drive the roads of NJ constantly in my job, and saw no evidence of any ticket blitz, increased police presense, etc. Its a bunch of hot air exchanged by two true morons.

              I hope so, Fred.

I am good friends with several officers in my town. One was in my wedding party. Most of the cops are just like you and me. They drive just as fast/slow as any of us. Sure, the difference is they can usually get out of any ticket, but they don't drive faster because of it.

I hold high respect for most of the officers out there. It's not an easy job, and many are painted as bullies before a word is even spoken to them. There are, however, a few bad apples. That's true in any line of work.

So true, but did you know cops are more afraid of you then you are of them? Cops and doctors are sued the most than any other in the U.S. They also have the highest stress and suicide rate in any other profession, too.

I knew doctors were sued a lot but not cops.

One thing funny when a cop see you have a concealed weapons permit they get nervous. I told an X cop friend of mine that there has only been 1 cop killed by a person with a concealed weapons permit and that was because some guy came home and found the cop in bed with his wife and shot him. That was here in Georgia. I told him the cops should be worried about people with guns without permits. They shouldn't be worried about the people with the permits.

I do know they have a high suicide rate. I never said they job wasn't tough.

But I can say they very few of them follow the rules of the road like turn signals, legal lane changes, not turning into the nearest lane, speeding, running red lights. My wife and I almost got hit by a cop a couple of weeks ago in the Best Buy parking lot. It would have been her fault too.

Just don't let the power go to your head.
