  • NFB Tire Question

Measured the tread depth for the Grand Prix tires today.

    Front: 3/32 [correction]
    Back: 8/32

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. The previous owner obviously never rotated them. So I need two new tires.

I'd like to get Pirelli PZero Nero M+S. I think they're on sale at Tirerack. Any impressions on these? Also, what do you all think of running 2 MXEnergy & 2 of the Pirellis at the same time?

    Stock Size: 225/55R17
    Pirelli: 235/55R17

Speedo would be off 1.6%, but the tires are cheap at $76 each. I may put the MXEnergy's up front to correct this.

I would think the speedo should be fine as long as you aren't changing the diameter of the tire.

The height would change. The first number is the width and the second number is the percentage that the height is of the width. For example, a 500/50R15 (500*.5=250) would be twice as tall as a 250/50R15 (250*.5=125).

Really, Interesting. I never knew that one. No wonder when I upgraded from a 245/55r16 over to a 255/55zr16 the car sat higher. Thanks for taht one Jeff.

Stock Size: 225/55R17 rolling diameter 26.77"
              Pirelli: 235/55R17 rolling diameter 27.17

so as you can see, the new tire will only be .40" taller. you can live with that easy.

                Joe,

I have the Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires mounted on my wife's Taurus SHO and really like them. They handle very well in both wet and dry conditions and are extremely quiet. I have had them for about 1 year and they are wearing great. I think you would be happy with them.

Thanks all...I went ahead and got 4 since it's rare to see a tire like this for $76.
