Hi guys, I was thinking about buying an 93 trans am w/a4 and hard top. Price was 1500 but when I called the seller said the motor had seized the day before and he lowered the price to 600 dollars. My question is do you guys think this would be a good project? I have a Gen 1 small block just sitting in the garage to go in something. Or is it a better idea to get the lt1 built. Any advice/
criticism is welcome. Almost forgot its got 161k and the body and interior seems to be in good shape minus one or 2 minor imperfections, not too bad looking for a 14 year old car.

It depends greatly on several factors.

First and foremost, the kind of project you're looking to accomplish. It would definitely be worth a serious look if you wanted a track car. If everything important checks out (frame, major rust, etc...), it's not a bad idea.

If you want to make it a street car, it's going to require lot of time/money.

I forgot to mention that I already have a 98 z71 that I use as a dd. I was planning on using it as mostly a track car but keeping it "streetable." Don't wanna have to tow it to the track but if i have to, that wouldn't be that bad. I really just miss my old ls1 trans am and was looking for something to tinker with on the weekends, and was gonna see if some of the guys here who have done it before think I would be gettin in over my head.

If you asking if anyone here has put a gen 1 SBC in a 4th gen camaro, I have. As far as will you be in over your head, that depends on how mechanically inclined you are. Here are a few pictures of mine, as you can see by the date these are very old and lots have been done since, but it will give you an idea of what a gen 1 motor looks like in the car.
