gr8 day and a 170lb wolfdog!

took one of my new members with me and visited another member who just rescued two low content wolfdogs in a southern VA county for us. I gave up a sunny day to drive the GTO and took the commuter van since his driveway is gravel, and...i knew that me and Luna (my new volunteer) would get muddy in the enclosures with the woofers...

It was hairy, they were scheduled to be put to sleep last monday. working with the Humaine Society, great lady, we were able to get them pulled from the shelter and my member Oliver agreed to foster them...he fell in love with them and adopted them... he already has two lows, and a third upper low, named Thunder. Thunder weighs 170lbs, folks! he's intimidating ...LOL.. he's a bermeise mountain dog, malamute, timberwolf cross... Oliver rescued him from Wisconsin..the other two lows he adopted from full moon farm wolfdog sanctuary... he also has a red husky, and two mixed breeds domestic dogs he rescued as well....and yes..he lives in the country..LOL

Wolfdogs have a keen sense when it comes to knowing what humans to trust and whether or not they are "animal people".. well... as you can see in these next two photos.. Luna greeted them at the fence, 5 min. later we opened the gate the next pic says it all:





and here's the rescued twosome..happy in their new homes. they had been abandoned by the previous owner. when the Humaine Society found them, their water bowls were empty and full of dust.. there are now getting 3 meals a day so strengthen back up..



out of the two...this one has the most wolf content... they are both low content wolfdogs and very friendly...not very big either... very thin...sad ....but they will flourish in life now!

and here's the big boy himself. in person...you can get a full feel for his size... Oliver kept him at bay most of the time...for he became slightly aggressive in my presence, not Luna's... we think its an "alpha thing"...LOL.. i sure didnt want to tangle with this guy! Now thats full size doorway, folks!!! and Oliver weighs around 180lbs... to give you an idea how big this boy is...and thats a full size red Siberian husky in the last pic...







It's always a wonderfull day when you see the animals you saved and observe them in their new homes.......

ol wolfdogs is a happy guy this evening! Im also thankfull for a new volunteer that lives close enough to me to go on some outings and do some wolfdog work in northern va for me.. (my wife raised her eyebrows though...hahahahahaha)

and I thought an Alsatian I've seen was huge . Looks like the usual, your having a blast doing what most would find difficult, if not nearly impossible. I wonder how many fur butts are ALIVE thanks to your idea of creating the organization you put together with like minded individuals

thanks broh. there are quite a few rescues like mine, Lord knows we need more though.........

WOW!!! Just look at where Thunder's head is compared to Olver's stomach in the last pic!! That is some serious doggy there, and he is very beautiful. I don't think I'd be able to hold him back on the leash if he saw some yummy kittycat

beautiful dogs, i wish CT was so strict on the laws. maybe in a couple years ill be able to take some classes and adpot a wolfdog

it was two. they had to stay together. very bonded. the white one and little fuzzy one in the third pic.
