  • NJ MVC testing emissions data transmitter

Don't have the details, but the radio news had an article on the NJ Motor Vehicle Commision (MVC) now testing a small transmitter (described as "similar to EZ-Pass") that connects to the vehicle PCM and notifies the MVC immediately if you have any emissions-related codes set. You would receive a notice by mail to have the problem fixed and the vehicle retested. It was emphasized that this would NOT replace periodic emissions inspections.

Sieg Heil! The Nazi's get bolder every day.
    Fred

I say shove it up the MVC's %^$# and see what they are emitting. This sounds pretty toxic to me.

I highly doubt this will actually take effect. These radio transmitters can not be cheap at all.

The EZ-Pass transponder costs about $25.

I wonder if Coal burning power plants and heavy industry would accept similar conditions They are the real polluters. Emissions restrictions are a way to control what the citizens can and can't do (well maybe California does need the restrictions their air is bad )

Just think back to when the power outage occurred 4-5 years ago. Immediatly around the country the Air cleared up, became stal clear... all in a matter of hours after the power plants went off line... people continued to drive their cars.. that's proof enough

Georgia power produces 47% of the air polution in Georgia. I think it said cars produce 2%. The rest was mostly by diesel vehicles. Buses, trains, and trucks.

This is just one reason I won't EVER live in New Russia, Komifornia or the like... Of course, Michigan is getting to that point in some aspects.

Whoa whoa whoa, CA isn't nearly that bad. Granted, the smog checks are annoying, but nothing like the crap Fred is referring to here. Ease up

In all seriousness, how in the world would they be able to enforce that every vehicle has a transmitter? And what about those that don't have an ECM/PCM? This doesn't sound like a very well thought-out idea at all. Sounds like a few "key" people need head-removal-from-butt surgery.

I hear ya Steve...You're right, they aren't there yet, but don't put it past them. And like I said, it is only one of the reasons. There are plenty of others which I won't get into...
