That's a pretty rare car. I saw one in Pigeon Forge a couple of weeks ago. A guy in Stone Mtn had a green one when I was in high school.

There is also a white one that hits the local weekly show here once in a while. Nice shape, though he's still working on the interior.

Is it a "real" 2-seater AMX, or one of the later versions that was an option on AMC's 4-seater pony car? Unstable Bob has one of tha later ones, and its painted up to match the versions that were raced in the Trans-Am racing series. I've towed it to AMC shows for him, and its a real trip.

Howdy, ya'll! I'm glad to see that "Hulk Hogan" Ken is still laying down the justice!
I got away from F bods some time back, and have my 73 AMX out in the limelight of my life. I also have an 87 Buick T-Type that will prolly never run again, and an 04 Cavalier 2.2 Ecotec for the daily commute.
As far as any AMC questions go, I can be reached at usroadwarrior@aol.com for email, my message board is http://www.unstablebobgable.com/ubforum/
or a REAL good AMC site is http://amccars.net/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl. I'll try to stop in here if/when I get a chance, but i'm up to the eyeballs with my message board. It ain't easy being king!

                          Stay well!

Hello to you all...thanks for your help

                              Hello everybody-
Sorry it has taken me so long to post…got my login here on this forum and now I am ready to go! First, thanks to Wolfdogs for the invite to this forum and for the introduction to you all…thanks Wolfdogs! Here is the problem I am facing which I asked him for help on when I saw his extensive hot rod / modification background from postings on the Solstice forum:

I have a 1973 AMX (the one with a back seat)…it has the 401, which has been built up some (has new headers, has a nice cam shaft, has a freshly installed custom built racing suspension, racing steering box, has new front brake calipers, pads, etc, has a race shifter, and a rebuilt transmission)…I am embarrassed to say that I don’t know the full extent of the modifications as I got the car out of a junkyard in the early 90s and it already had a lot of stuff done to it (no idea how it got to the Junkyard!). At that time, it ran on one cylinder…but it ran! Over the years I got a top end rebuild, and have replaced all the parts listed above. Up to now I have been simply replacing what was in the car and old / worn out with new parts.

But now I am up to the rear end. I want to get positraction on the car (only one drive wheel today), and also I don’t want to keep up the “find impossible parts” for the rear end if I can avoid it. A very smart person told me I should get an aftermarket rear end…which is the question I asked Wolfdogs on the other forum…what is the best aftermarket performance rear end I should get to put in the car? Once the rear is done I am on to the body and interior…so this is a very big moment for this almost two decades long project…but I need to get the right one. Wolfdogs indicated I might want to get a Strange Engineering one…but also said I should ask this forum the same question…so…do any of you have advice for a good performance rear end that will stand up to lots of horsepower for off the line / street driving?

I am open to anything…wanted to get info from people that know this stuff far better than I do…thanks for your help!
