the 98's do not have as many parameters in the PCM (1/2 the nmemory so it cant) that could be tuned compared to all later years, so it makes aftermarket tuning a pita, depending upon application.
Then again the 98's have a useable water gauge and decent pcv system that doesn't burn oil like the later years.
But in the end get what makes you happy, that won't bust your budget...
