I saw an episode of InsideRC a couple of years ago that featured that. The guns are limited in height to prevent shore injuries, but still people that operate the ships all have to have protective gear and the pressures are limited down. All the electronics are in a sealed, armored container in the middle of the ship, and part of the deck has floats on it with a cable attached to the ship. When it sinks, the float comes loose and allows the ship to be found (as you saw in the video). Those guys patch the hulls and usually have them back in the water within an hour, so they're pretty tough relatively speaking. That just seems like a lot of time and money for a few minutes of fun!

That looks like a blast, no pun intended. I would have to come up with a submarine and torpedo though.
