  • 31 hours from NYC to LA

A geeky car nut in 2006 beat the 1983 Cannonball record and has recently told his story/wrote a book about it (ensuring all federal and state laws that were violated would be unenforceable after time expiration and consulting with numerous lawyers and JUDGES)

    here is the wired article
here is his website and his other website

Article got my blood pumping just reading about it

            I agree

But we probably wouldn't get an airplane to spot out for us I was looking on you tube at the various videos of previous rally's he's been in and one time he got a 100+ mph Police escort down through busy downtown Bucharest on a side note the french film that they mention is on youtube, and I must say if your a car nut this is better than Cannonball Run movies and Gumball combined. Once they were going 165 mph across country on I-10 to Miami, and they were still being left behind by two other gumballers Just do a search on team polizei, gumball or cannonball on youtube, you'll find this guy everywhere

FYI here is what you need to run Next May in the silver state,

From wikipedia: In addition to a handheld fire extinguisher, gloves and Snell helmets, the car must be fitted with 5-point or 6-point harnesses and (from 2007) arm restraints for the driver and navigator (if present)

For the grand sport class, up to 150 MPH, which our cars are capable of all cars must be fitted with a rollbar or equivalent roll-over protection. Drivers and navigators must wear fireproof racing suits. At no time may the car exceed the Tech Speed of 165 mph.

To run in the Super sport class, In this class, specialist race cars are necessary. A full roll cage, fuel cell and onboard plumbed fire extinguisher are required. Cars in the 160 and 170 mph speed classes may not exceed the Tech Speed of 180 mph at any time. Cars in the 180 mph and Unlimited classes have no specified maximum speed.
