It would not surprise me if this was in fact real. There are some truly clueless people out there.
True story, saw it happen firsthand...
I worked at a credit union when I was in college.
A customer comes in one day to inquire about their checking account. The teller next to me was helping this person and after looking up the account tells them it is overdrawn. "That's impossible" the customer says. The teller offers to give them a history printout and the customer says "No, you don't understand." "My account can't be overdrawn, I still have checks left, See?" then proceeds to show us the check book...
