It's depressing, isn't it? I remember one Thanksgiving night, the Shell gas station down the street from my house had regular for $1.14. That was 1998..
Well it was .25 cents when I was A kid. You could drive around all nite for $1.00. An in 1973 it went up to like 73 cents a gal an people went nuts. Dam them were the good ol days.Hot cars.

Yep, I remember collecting deposit pop bottles to buy gas. Wouldn't get very far nowadays.
I remember the last time I spent less than $2 per gallon for premiun and that was on vacation at the Shenandoah national park . THe gas station next to the Luray Caverns had it for $1.999/gal for 93. I think that was like 2004 or 2005 before the boost in oil prices.
If I was an investor, I would be buying oil futures too. There is more global demand and shrinking supplies = darn good investment. We as a nation are bending over to the world and set to take it up the tailpipe. With our natural resources, there is no reason for this but pure special interest stupidity. Hopefully, one day people will see through the environmental agenda and demand a sustainable energy strategy that uses our resources to sustain the economy and invest in future technologies that will transition to the next chapter in energy production. Since industry doesn't want to change and the environmental lobby is scaring the heck out of every one with "Global Warming" to push their agenda, we are unlikely to harness are own resources in time to prevent some real pain for all our families. Pretty much we need a melt down to find the correct answer. I hope everyone is prepared for the misery ahead. Life will sure be a living he!! if Obama is elected and legislation like the Lieberman Warner Act is passed...what a complete mess!!! Here in Colorado, Governor Ritter is chasing the oil and gas industry out of the state by draconian rule "environmental" changes and severance tax packages. The state has already lost 1 billion in investment dollars that were diverted to Wyoming. Stupid Stupid people!!!
The gas prices: This was the price of gas when I started driving...89 cents put a gallon of super unleaded in the tank of the '79 Trans Am that I still own. It just sits now; I couldn't afford to drive it if wanted to.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
