32 years ago today........my son Kenny was born.

Iv'e been making this post every year on his birthday, I made a commitment to do it..... because, he'd be alive today if he had been wearing his seatbelt, and his girlfriend would not have undergone extensive surgery, including the rebuild of one of her eye sockets, had she been wearing hers...
I'll never forget the the straight lined expression of the State Trooper when he said "so sad, he'd a made it with a seat belt on"......

The full size dodge pickup handled the impact well, maintained good structure........

he went through the windshield head on into a tree..........

wear your seatbelts folks........ they work....they save lives

    have a good Friday.

I always wear mine. I feel uncomfortable with it off. Good habit. I just noticed, I have never told a passenger of mine to put their seat belts on because they do it automatically. Many folks from my generation have woken up and always wear them.

God be with your son, Ken.

I never start the car without first putting on the belt. I tell all my passengers to wear it - or get out!

Ken - your son's memory is why I will NEVER drive without a belt on again.

I am so sorry for your loss- I always wear a seatbelt- I mean, we like to pretend we are performance drivers- have you ever seen any professional driver that didn't wear a belt or harness?

The passengers *might* be allowed to make up their own mind (not in my car!) but I feel the driver has an obligation to remain behind the wheel, even if the car is spinning or sliding- I have heard to many stories about drivers sliding across bench seats, or submarining under the dash when they hit something- Makes it easier to drive in a 'spirited' manner if you don't have to try and hold on to your seat at the same time-

I wear mine at all times for three reasons...

                    1) I was brought up that way

                    2) Your yearly post reminding us that loss of life is very possible and very real

                    3) My damn Acura won't stop &%!$# dinging until I put it on!!!

But mostly for the first two reasons...
