finally got to drive the new vette this afternoon (sunday). Put a whoppin 22 miles on it..LOL... stopped off at a couple of locations to get some pics other than my damn driveway...

after the gym yesterday, i put the 7th coat of zaino zfx/z5pro on it so it was ready....

tell ya what... i had a mid 12 second 1/4 mile car back in the 60's... but it was a beast, drove like one, rode like one, handled like one. I got a chance to get on this car today..for the second time.. on the interstate merge points... Im amazed at this car....my God.... a controllable rocket..

anyway...(not that we dont know what these cars look like..but all in fun yall)

first one is of the hood and me pointing at my "old guys rule" t shirt....

I love those reflection pics as usual. If only I had a garage. I hate to say it but my hawks paint has taken a beating even with a car cover for the past 7 years.

I built one of those $200 car tents with all sides closed in. I had to take in down though when we got them most recent hurricane winds else it would be in Canada right now....just decided to use the roof as a tarp for the storm which worked pretty well.

Nah, it starts in the basecoat but the clear smoothes it out mostly. It "could" be wetsanded flat and buffed completely out in the clear. The major problem with doing this would be cutting mills off the topcoat which in turn could start premature delamination of the clear from the base color, especially on black(dang sun).

To do it right, you would have to scuff sand the entire car (plus de-trim)and add 2-3 more coats of clear(costly, basically a complete refinish without the basecoat). Then cut it smooth and buff/ polish...

Trust me when I say it is not worth it on anything but a showcar. Which I might add, yours is very close to... It would be extremely nit-picky to go through all of that, and you aren't quite there, yet.

However, tis the only way to acheive true mirror image, old grasshoppa... sorry I'm tired...goin to bed...

I think Al's refering to the reflections of the "power bulge" in the hood. Regardless, it looks beautiful. Ken, with your knack for shine, black is definantly the color for you.

Exactly! I'm glad someone got it (HEHE - the bulge.). Orange Peel??? Your kiddin' right? You think I can see that??? That freakin' reflection is better than most mirrors!

Sweet- I wouldn't want to drive it and get it dirty after all that polishing-

The dealer must be drooling, for you to trade it in so he can sell it as 'better than new' with a hefty fee for all the detailing- probably give you a good deal towards a new ZR1

                          You're living large, my man-
