    2009 Car of the Year Award

    Motor Trend has just announced their finalists for COTY:

    THE CLASS OF 2009:

    Amazingly, there are TWO Pontiacs on the list. That's the first time I can remember seeing that.

    Unfortunately, neither is actually built by General Motors, so the honor is not as sweet. However, just being in the company of the others is nice to see.

          winner will be a Japanese import. By default the winner doesn't have to pass quality/maintenace compared to competition (a la Consumer Reports) because of past years successes

            Although, I would love to see the Hyundai Genesis. It's one-heck off a car for the money. Lexus is VERY nervous about this car as the mags. are loving everything about it...for $20K.

              You're right, Al. The Genesis is a beautiful car for the money. Remember when Hyundai was a joke? They're certainly not anymore. Kia has kind of taken over that role (which is ironic considering they are Hyundai's test bed).

              I did get to drive the new TL last week. I wanted to test the new all-wheel drive option. What a car. I'm in love. Too expensive at the moment though. Might wait a year or two.

                The pontiac G8 IS a GM product. Built in australia by Holden a division of general motors.

                      i would like to see the challenger win it, but i think the gtr will walk away with it.

                        Technologically, the GTR should win it. But, with 70K sticker and them selling for over 120k, that kinda takes it out of average man price range, which will hurt it IMO.
