Its true though, You find a bunch of rubber in the wheel well and you think thats right. Just goes to show you Nissan didnt prep the car to handle some harsh driving. Its like buying a ZO6 and the tranny going out. PLease there are guys pushing 700+hp and stock trans handles it. What did Nissan expect with All-Wheel-Drive, Extreme launches are going to happen but i dont think NIssan should pay. Maybe 50/50

Warranty is a warranty is a warranty........Nissan installed the button to turn off vdc. The tranny should be able to handle it. If not, they should have built it stronger, or not put the button in there.

what came down to is that they disengaged that torque control button. The warranty stated that the warranty is VOID if it is disengaged for anything other than getting unstuck from snow or mud. They flew several techs from Japan just to verify the button disengagement as it was cheaper than replacing the tranny... what's the selling point of the car then?

Nissan Installed that Black box for a reason. If Nissan has installed a tranny beefy enough to handle everything then that car would not be 90k. They used inferiour parts to keep the price low.

Funny, my GTP when new came with a 'trac off' button. If I did hard launches with that off, I'd destroy the trans in short order. But GM would have stood behind that warranty...

Sorry, but Nissan should be standing behind that warranty and replacing this guy's trans for free. If the trans can't handle the power with this button off, then the button shouldn't be installed. DUH.

Does your GTP have AWD? With AWD and 500 HP something has to give- when you are smoking 4 tires at a time, thats a big load- Our F-bodies frag their rear ends only spinning two tires....
2001 Z28 A4 - 160 deg t-stat, 3.42 gears, WS6 sway bars, rear springs and shocks, UMI SFC's, Torque Arm and STB, leather Firebird seats, Borla, SLP Y-pipe and lid, ZO6 cam and springs - 332 RWHP and 346 RWTQ, not bad for 'almost stock' - work in progress

No, but the point is, if I turned it off and drove it hard daily, that 4T65E-HD would fall apart in short order because it's only rated for 280 ftlbs of torque and 240 hp - which is what my s/c'd 3800 puts down from the factory. Tuning, headers, cam, and a smaller pulley can easily throw both numbers over 300 hp, which has been proven time and again to shred that transmission in no time. Hell, a set of stickies thrown on an otherwise stock car has been known to grenade differentials.

I was simply pointing out that if you put in the equivalent of a 'trac off' button, the trans you're using should be able to hold up to it for at least a short period of time. From the sounds of it, Nissan's transmission won't hold up to it more than once or twice.

So, you are saying that you modified your drivetrain, and don't think the transmission can take the extra output- and, in fact, it probably would, for a while at least- GM reliability is very good- look at all these F-bodies that get modified and seriously beat on by 19-year-old racer wannabes-

The Nissan, costing what, about 3 times what your GTP cost is completely bone stock- and still can't take a full performance take-off without voiding the warranty and seriously shortening the life of the components- That's good engineering! /sarcasm off/

If GM did something like this, you would be reading about it on the front page of every trade magazine, and 60 minutes would be doing a faked report- Nissan does it, and everybody thinks it is okay-.....

its not that people (media) thinks its ok, they just don't mention. Remember , this info came from a forum....The media is essentially owned by the foreign car companies. Or so it would seem.
