    road trip Sunday...02/08

    sad that this is the first road trip in the vette.

    my dad's body is shutting down. he's in the hospital and if he makes it out, which they doubt, he's going to a hospice.

    87 years old. WWII fighter pilot, Korean War fighter pilot, 2 tours in Viet Nam, fighter pilot, Pentagon, Base Commander... full Col. when he retired from the USAF. Gin drinking, cigar smoking, outdoors man superior...hunted and fished all over the world... flown more planes than you would believe in his lifetime:

    Been going thru this for a few days now, and got the word from my brother and sister and his doctor... its real bad. I need to say goodby to my Dad... im the oldest.. and i live 4.6 hrs away... my brother and sister live down there.

    so if you see a shiny black C6 on I95 south sunday....or on I70 East, going towards Goldsboro NC... give me a sign.. ill pull over and we can meet. VA TAG: wolfdgs

                I'll keep an eye out for you, but I don't get South of 95 much these days. I live a couple miles Northwest of the 95/70 intersection.

                edit: watch out for the unmarked NCSHP Chargers, they're everywhere around these parts.

                    I'm sure he's tough. If anybody can handle it I'm sure he can.

                      Hope your drive down was uneventful. Sounds like you father is still fightin'. Best thing to do is support you family as there is little else one can do as the rest is up to God... believe me I've been there

                          he's still alive though..but barely... God Bless him... hes fighting and does not even know it... they got him drugged up pretty good...... he looks terrible.. cut me to the bone.

                              Sorry to hear, Ken. Tough to say goodbye to those we love. He will be fine, it's the people that are left behind that have a hard time adjusting. I am sure he is going to a just reward- you are part of his legacy of what he did, just keep living your life to honor him and his memory-

                              Lost my dad years ago, Annapolis, WW II navy and Korea, actually worked on the Apollo moon program- his last job was the B-1 bomber- I saw the first space shuttles being built in his shop in southern Calif.- Still miss him, wish I could share stuff with him- someday, maybe-
