  • anyone know about govt seized car auctions?

the bird died on me, its not worth fixing. i guess ill junk it and get my $200.

i saw a commercial about government seized cars being auctioned. choosecars.com say the prices are 90% off retail. they dont let you see the cars without buying a $60 membership.

does anyone have experience with this site or gov auctions in general? im not looking for anything in particular, just a deal.

I wouldn't pay for that site. Our local Govs (County and State) have a link to the auction site they use on their web page. It's free... http://www.govdeals.com/eas/index.cfm
At least around here, you'd be bidding against used car dealers looking for the same deal you are.

I think a lot of those places that advertise are scams- sell you a list of sites you can get with 5 minutes work, for free- There may be some good deals out there, and you had better believe other people will be there bidding against you-
2001 Z28 A4 - 160 deg t-stat, 3.42 gears, WS6 sway bars, rear springs and shocks, UMI SFC's, Torque Arm and STB, leather Firebird seats, Borla, SLP Y-pipe and lid, ZO6 cam and springs - 332 RWHP and 346 RWTQ, not bad for 'almost stock' - work in progress

If you're set on junking it, at least offer it as it sits on the message boards. Somebody may pick it up to turn it into a drag car, or pick it up for their kid to learn how to get something running again. Don't just sell it to a scrap yard without at least giving the car a chance to live on. You could always part it out yourself first, then scrap what's left.
