And wow did it exceed my expectations. My buddy got a really good deal on it, so he decided to scoop it up. It's a 6 speed, but he doesn't know how to drive a standard transmission. I've been teaching him and as a thank you, he lets me drive it.
The good-
This thing is gorgeous! The clutch pedal is as light as my Honda's, and it engages more smoothly than anything I've driven before. The clutch engagement is absolutely flawless. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see much of what the suspension has to offer, but the little bit that I did see was impressive. If there was any body roll whatsoever, I didn't feel it. Everything felt nice and rigid. Not at all like my Trans Am. The brakes were very solid and brought the car to a halt in a hurry. Again, exponentially better than my car. This was my first time ever driving anything with an LSX and I now understand what all the hype is about. It has plenty of grunt down low, but it really starts to pin you to the seat when it hits the mid RPM range. There is certainly no lack of power here. It would have been nice if the car was a few hundred pounds lighter, but even at almost 4,000lbs the car feels nimble. The seats were comfortable and the interior caught me off guard. It's easy to see GM spent some time here, rather than using the traditional Fisher Price type parts so commonly seen in their cars.
The bad-
Not much to say here. The door unlock button/ switch is in an awkward location (below the radio), so that took some time to find. The stereo itself leaves a lot to be desired. It could have been far more powerful, but no complaints. It still sounds good and gets pretty loud. I just expected more. The only thing I would want to change on this car, personally, is the shift knob. It's far too bulky. It's almost like holding the stock of a rifle. It would probably fit Shaq's hand quite nicely, but at 5'8" with average sized mitts, I wasn't a fan.
All in all, it turned me right around. I wasn't a fan of the new Camaro by any stretch of the imagination, but to say I'm not impressed by it would be an outright lie. I'll try to get some pictures up in the coming days.
