A micro sized ducted fan jet. Small enough to carry in the car for a lunchtime flight or two, still hauls butt for some thrills. Check out how small.....

That's a bit of a loaded question. It's not very forgiving at first, It takes a bit of work / planning to get a micro like this to work. Once all the bugs are worked out, it's fairly easy to control if you have experience. Something like this F-4 is not a plane for beginners, more like for the upper end of intermediate.

That smaller the Jet, the more twitchy they get.

this jet in particular was brought to market by a company who planned to have a certain sized propriatary ducted fan and motor. The kits were already out and the whole power system end fell though. The company tried to sell the kits using a more readily available setup that wasn't working well. The users were getting disasterous results. I redesigned part of the kit for them and detailed the modifications so that it worked using readily available parts. Now that it works, I would say that if someone has any amount of RC flight experience, they could fly this.

That rules me out, but it's still a killer setup. I'm planning on getting my first "real" r/c plane this summer. My son is turning 6 and he has taken a liking to the Airhogs plane I bought two years ago. I'd love to fly along side of him with a beginner's hobby-grade plane.
