  • What Is Hydroxychloroquine and How Does It Work?

Hydroxychloroquine is a medication primarily used to treat autoimmune conditions like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as to prevent and treat malaria. It works by modulating the immune system and reducing inflammation. Specifically, it interferes with communication between immune cells and blocks the release of certain inflammatory substances, helping to control overactive immune responses in autoimmune diseases.

In malaria, Hcqs 200 works by entering infected red blood cells and disrupting the parasite’s ability to process heme, a toxic substance it tries to neutralize. This ultimately kills the parasite.

It is taken orally, usually in tablet form, and often prescribed for long-term use in autoimmune patients. While generally well tolerated, possible side effects include nausea, headache, and vision changes, so regular monitoring is advised. Hydroxychloroquine has also been researched for other conditions, but its use should always be guided by a healthcare professional.
