It seems that GM does not want the truth to come out about what happened to the auto's. Lets just say they are right and it was casued by low sales, and or the marketing was not there, and or the cars were not made well enough. If we as a county believe this then we are people that will believe anything.

It has taken myself a long time to put this on the web as I worked in the plant in Canada that made the cars and here is what the truth is;

1. The Canada government gave a loan to GM to keep the cars being built across the border this is the facts but what you will not hear is that the unions tried to up the cost per hour for the members to the point that the promise by the union not to raise the hourly cost. The government tried to step in and slove the problem but the union was not going to back down.

2. The union knew under the agreement that the name camaro and firebird could not be used unitl 2017 and by doing what they did it screwed the people who wanted the car to be built.

Close...... it's common knowledge that Canada gave GM billions in interest free loans in order to keep the Camaro/Firebird in Canada. In exchange for the interest free loan, Canada would have the exclusive rights to build the cars for as long as the product line existed or until repayment of the loan by 2017. Do the math........ cheaper to make the product go away for several years than to keep the factory open. Then the next generation could be built in a different plant alongside other models that share a platform. GM will still have to repay the loan but can do so with the savings from the now closed factory. So yes, GM killed the car.
