  • Dymag magnesium corvette wheels.

The following is from memory... I'll have better info later:

A long time ago my uncle saw a C4 vette that belonged to a racing team and it had awsome wheels on it. He contacted the racing team and asked where they got them. He was directed to Dymag of England. Upon contacting Dymag he was told that only a few sets of those specific wheels were made specifically for the racing team and were left. He persuaded Dymag to make 2 more sets for him.

One of the sets is sitting in his house yet. He never got around to using them. I believe they are 17x9.5 front and 17x11 rear, but I am not sure. He is going to measure them and get back to me. He is also going to find the paperwork on them. The finish is black anodized.

I'm puting this post here to guage interest. If anyone is interested, I will make sure I post updated info as I get it. I do know that he paid alot for them.

I'll get some pictures this weekend. I'll be out at his place with the camera. I believe he paid around $5,000 give or take for the two sets.

He asked me if I wanted them a couple days ago. As much as I would had loved to take them, I cannot. My car is not an extreme performace machine. Its a drop top cruiser. My car is not the right car for them to find their home on. It would also be wrong for me to take them, and sell them for profit.

They were designed for the C4, so I'm assuming the offset is compatable with our cars. I'll use a ruler in the pictures.

I seem to remember them being in the Mid America Catalogs back then and I think you were close on the price. Having a set of those in one way would stink if you trashed a wheel.

I stopped out at my uncles house tonite and got some pictures of them, along with precise measurements.

              front: 17 x 9.5 with a 7" backspace
              rear: 17 x 11 with a 7 3/8" backspace

Here is a link to a small picture, The finish on the wheels is poor. The anadizarion has started to speckle. They need to be cleaned up and refinished. I would suggest powder coating them. I verified that he paid $2,500 for them. PM any offers to me and I'll tell you if you are in the ball park.

low-res picture of all 4 rims

Here are links to more full sized pictures:

I've been reading up about these wheels on the vette forum. I turns out that with the 11 inch rears, and the fact they have never been mounted, they are worth over $1000 per wheel. There are corvette guys that would litterally kill for this set!! I just posted it on their forum, we'll see who bites.

He offered the set to me for a grand, assuming I use them on my car. I just cant justify putting $5,000 rims and tires on a $10,000 car, plus my wife is pregnant and I dont have $2000 to dump into the car right now once you add in powder coating and tires.. Jeesh, it sure would be nice, though.

                I wish.

after much market research, a price has been assessed. I'm looking for $2,700 for them. That means someone can buy them, and have $300 to paint them to have 3 grand in them. I know they are worth at least that.

If anyone feels the need to have them, let me know. I'm also posting on the Corvette forum. These things are amazingly light.
