The kits include LT4 cylinder heads with valves and springs, a red aluminum LT4 intake manifold, GM Performance Parts' hot cam with 1.6:1 ratio Bow Tie roller rockers, and all necessary gaskets. The result of all of these mods is 425+ proven horsepower! does any other vendor have a better package ? more power ? LPE - thunderracing ? - tbyrne ? what kind of rear wheel HP is needed for mid 12's ? thanks guys..i just ordered suspension stuff. spohn lca's spohn relo brackets and spohn adj panhard rod. oh still for my Afs 17x9.5 and 17x11 silver painted and polished lip wheels to arrive this thursday

Properly ported stock heads will outflow the LT4 heads for less money. You can port match your intake to them yourself after they are ported.

I have heard great stuff about Lloyd Elliott. If I go H/C, I am going through him. He has a few packages mild-wild. Much better #'s than CC306/GM847 throughout the curve. Eportworks

Oh, and definately add headers to that combo... definatley holding you back now.

Correct. They used a $3,000 digital engine management system to get those numbers.

There are plenty of guys who run mid to high 12s with only bolt-ons on cz28.com. Their average trap speed ranges from 104-108 mph, so it shows how important traction is. I think I recall seeing someone with only a hot cam and many bolt-ons run a ~12.36. What kind of 60' times are you cutting right now? What about your trap speed?
So I guess another question would be, are you looking for a 12.5-12.7 second car, or a 110-116 mph trap speed car?

Traction is important. id say get a convertor, you already have gears. get a shift kit, some headers. do that stuff first.

I would also be interested to see what your 60' and traps were though. Cuz i went 13.7 @ 102.6 on a 2.3 short time . . . always interesting to compare numbers

my best trap speed was 101.4 mph
can't remmember my best short time .. been like over a year i last went to the track. traction is a big problem sometimes. i just ordered some spohn lca's , relo brackets and adj panhrad rod. oh and my 17x11 rear Zr1's should also help. they should come in late this week.. mid 12's is all i want. i hate to get smoked by my brother in law's 405 hp Z06 by 3 lenths to about 120 everytime we go at it. i hate it . those cars are just plane mean....
                - what kind stall speed should i get ?
                - what kind of shift kit ?
                - what kind of single cat mid length headers should i get ?
                - cc305 or cc306 with what type of 1.6 R/r ?
                - whats will a good head and intake port job cost ?
whats all this going to cost ?

I'm no expert, but my suggestions are:
                  - for headers, AS&M mid-lengths are a really, really good choice
                  - 2400-2800 stall converter will do for stock, but I'm sure you'll need a much higher one if you get a cam.
                  - Comp Cams Pro Mag RRs are awesome. I've been happy with them. You'll of course need springs, hardened pushrods and guideplates if you go with non self aligning. For lifters, the Comp-Rs are supposed to be good. And I believe the cc305 is generally similar to the LT4 hot cam, and the cc306 is a bit "hotter". But I've also heard many who were disappointed in the 306 with a stock motor.

If you could get a 1.9 or quicker short time, then I'd start with engine mods. Otherwise, I'd work on traction first. But seeing the traction stuff you got now, you should be there, or close.

For all the mods you listed, it's not going to be cheap. I'm guessing a rough estimate of $2200-2700 if you do it yourself, plus the cost of head/intake work.

Definitely look at traction and the rest of the car first. Have you upgraded the driveshaft yet? What tires are you putting on the rear? A good rear sway bar will also help with traction, or you could put an airbag in the pass. rear spring. Good shocks and springs will help also, along with the SFCs, LCAs and panhard rod you're already getting. Lightening up certain parts of the car will help also, such as the K-member, front control arms, spare tire, jack, etc. If you're willing to go so far, a good torque arm will help too. After that, a good set of headers, RRs and a good PCM flash should get you into the 12s.
