The bottom line is Porsches don't appeal to Vette guys and Vettes don't appeal to Porsche guys.......at least most of the time. So it doesn't matter who they picked. You wouldn't make a choice of which car to buy in the same way they do anyway. Hardly anyone does........that's why I hate comparison tests. Magazines should stick to pointing out the good and bad things about all cars. We decide which one we are going to buy anyway regardless of what they say.
I hate comparison tests for this reason. It's like trying to decide whether a Camaro or a Firebird is better. In the end we all made our choices based primarily on styling (even though everyone knows Camaro's are faster ). But when our cars were in production there were all kinds of comparison tests between these two as well as Mustangs Mustangs almost always finished last too except for the occasional test where they picked the Cobra.......but they always outsold the Camaro and Firebird who usually took turns finishing one or two in every comparison test I ever saw.
I think that it is a socialist ploy attempting to bring our money out of the country. Sure you could say that it is just marketing but why settle for something less than beautiful that costs three times as much? I say it's the commies.
I am glad you brought up the 05 GTO test vs the new Mustang. I read it and when I got to the end I said....What??? And then reread the article - same reaction at the end. Maybe that was their goal They chose the Mustang for the "must have" factor. In my mind the GTo sent the Mustang home in search of more power or to pick up its SVT brother!

Exactly!! How does the 05 Glue-Together even compare?!?! Its slower, ugly as sin and is using a 12-year-old F-body suspension...and they couldn't even get that right by leaving the torque arm off. Granted, the GTO isn't all that visually appealing, but it looks waaaay better than the mudstain. Ugh!!!
Number one rule with those magazines, if you don't believe that foreign means better, don't read them. They are all extremely biased to their point of view...it matters very little how the car actually performs. During the early days of the LS1 WS6, one of those rags put it up against the Cobra, and the WS6 won in every performance application, but the rag concluded that the Mustang was superior for the only reason that they liked the name more. Personally, I know what I like so I gravitate to the resources that provide good information about my cars.
To me, Porsche means overpriced steroid injected Volkswagen junk, nothing more, nothing less; but that is my point of view. I would never spend 5 cents on one so I could care less about their test. If somebody wants a sports car minus the muscle, that is their problem. In the states, Porsche is about image, Corvette is about good 'ol throw you in your seat muscle...I choose the later. Like my neighbor, 6 figure hot rod builder, says, "there is an [blank] for every seat!" Corvettes are getting their name back with the C5 and C6, but some people will never be convinced based on their own tastes.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

What I really don't get is how they can say the Mustang handles better when its sloshy as heck. I test drove an 02 WS6 and an 02 GT...WS6 hands down won. Better handling, more confident steering and gobs more power. I mean, I like Porsche, mainly the 911 Turbo. But, a Boxster? Come on. My Z would crush that thing, let alone my GN. Oy!
