Anyone have a how to on changing out front wheel bearings in a '94 Camaro? The guys at Les Schwab say that they are getting bad. I don't hear anything yet, but I figured I'd better see if I could find out how to change them out myself as it will save me about $400 in labor and thier parts. What a joke, these guys won't put on any parts that are not purchased through them, but they are charging $150 more than the local parts store, plus labor. In any case if anyone has the info let me know, if not I will make sure to provide an illustrated guide after I figure it out. Can't be that bad right?

You cannot change just the bearings. You'll need to get new hub assemblies.

Remove the brake calpiers and rotors
Unplug the ABS connectors on the backs of the hubs
remove 4 bolts holding hub to spindle
    remove hub

    install is the reverse.

Oh, thats right it's a sealed bearing. It lasts longer, but is more of a pain to change out. Alright, thanks guys.

I would say it is less of a pain. No mess, lubing or adjusting. Easy to remove and replace. It takes about as long to get the car up and the wheel off as it does to change it.

..Yeah but lets not forget it costs little more due to the sensor inside. I think GM wants $160 for each.

Hey, am I going to have any problems with removing the calipers? I heard that if you do not do it right they will lock up, and I will have to remove lines and pry them back apart. Any way if anyone has some info on removing the calipers and rotors let me know.

Not to hijack this post, but does anyone know if they offer this bearing without ABS?? I'm deleting my ABS but I want to change my hub bearings while I have the whole front end apart (Major OVerhaul to the bird) If they offered a cheaper non ABS alternative I would be very pleased.
