Crossmember Question

A buddy of mine needs a new crossmember on his 84 bird and i just had a couple quick questions.

Will a crossmember from an 87 (or any other third gen for that matter) fit on his 84?

And i doubt this one, but would a crossmember from an M5 fit on his A4?

all third gen trans members are the same, used on both a4 and m5(same)
