  • F-bods returning as the ice thaws

It's starting to get a tad bit warmer here in chicago, and around where i live the f-bods are starting to come out of hybernation. It surprises me that they're even stored at all.

I saw the third gen camaro thats painted 8 different colors, complete with purple, pink, yellow, and green stars with stream lines behind them.

Then there's the other third gen camaro i see all the time that has the worst yellow, red, and orange paint sceme ever with literally an 18 inch wing (might even be larger) on the back.

Also saw the famous rusted third gen firebird missing its rear bumper, has a 235 tire on the rear driver and a 325 on the rear passenger (both bald), complete with a fart can on one of the tailpipes but not the other.

    Then....the two actually nice newer 4th gen LS1 TA's....

Black convertible WS6 with white racing stripes.....and 20 inch rims.

    Red T/A complete with....spinning dubs.

I should really ask my boss to borrow his digi camera so i could take pictures of what I'm surrounded with...ricers and f-bods that make me want to

On a better note, where i work i happened to see a mint 1st gen camaro the other day, as well as many beautiful 4th gens.

If you ever happen to come through cicero, i suggest you put on your radioactive sunglasses....you'll need 'em

You can say that again... We might get to 30 next Monday. I don't expect to pull the bird out of hibernation until the first of April or so. If we get a warm day, I might go over and give her a good cleaning and put a coat of Zaino on it. I saw it the other day when I went to my sister's house. I have it stored in her garage. She has a 3 car garage on a patio home. Nothing wrong with that.... My 3 car is full of other cars and my sled....

Only another 5 weeks or so and I'll bring her home... I can't wait...

When i say thawing, i mean like 33 degrees No snow on the ground, somewhat dryer streets, but still cold . Still non the less, some cars are starting to make their way back on to the streets.

I can't wait to see it after you complete your little project Like i said before, you ever need an extra hand to wrench, gimme a call.

At least they know what an F-body is supposed to sound like, i set off 2 alarms within 2 blocks of my house last night at about midnight

Speaking of the weather, when is it safe to put chrome rims on?

Someone said after the first good rain, that way the salt is washed away. What do you guys think?

Chrome is pretty resilliant. If its on a steel rim, I would wait for sure till after the firs big rain, so there is no salt to aid in rust, but if they are aluminum then i would bet they are ok as long as you keep em clean and dont have to big of chips in the chrome.

I'm pretty sure they are aluminum. So basically I just need to keep them clean.

It's a tropical 56 degrees here in Kalispell, Montana. I am personally loving it. I dug the Z out on Tuesday and did an all out clean up inside and out. Changed the oil, fixed the blinkers, adjusted the dimmer switch, replaced the bulbs in the brake lights, wired in an easy access trunk release, disabled the CAGS in the PCM, and replaced the turn signal light on the front passenger side(what a pain). Anywho today was the day for the F-body, everyone that has one was driving it today. Even saw a '69 SS with the 396 in it, black with white rally stripes. Looks like an early spring up here it's still February and theres no snow, we usually don't even see the ground until late March or mid April. Life is good.

man i know how u feel... i live here in the home of "2slow 2curious" where i see horrible things done to f-bodies, like an ls1 camaro on spinnin 20's a 3rd gen camaro with a 4ft wing and about 5in exhaust tips that stick out about 7 inches from the bumber so if someone hits him from behing his manifolds will pop off or something LOL! and then theirs this one 3rd gen camaro that this father and son team are making their own body kit for..... i really need to take pics of this to show u guys. well hope the snow stops soon later.
