  • Need "broken" 4th Gen T-tops

Anybody have, or know where I can get, a left and a right side "broken" t-top panel? I need the entire assembly that contains the latching mechanism, and the weatherstripping that fills the gap between the edge of the t-top and the window.

This is just an idea I've been working on for "light-weight" t-tops, to save about 5# per side at the track..... I've got an old hardtop roof panel from a guy that did a t-top conversion. I figure if I paint the solid panel gloss black, it will look like glass.

Too much time on my hands........

That's a pretty interesting idea. Would those panels be stronger than the stock glass ones? Would there be a problem with driver saftey? I'll keep my eyes open for ya.

Yupppp.... been sitting in the garage for about 2 years . Finally getting the time to try and do something with them. The cuts are already pretty good.... minor work to get them to seat in the opening. It's just the big gap between the top panel and the window that is a problem.

As far as the strength of the panels, it really isn't an issue. NHRA treats t-top cars just like coupes. As long as it isn't open, for your vital body parts to flop out, it doesn't matter what the roof is made from. I guess you could run it without the t-tops if you had an arm restraint (and the HP to overcome the poorer streamlining?). And remember, I have a roll bar.

I thought I had scored a broken top a couple years ago.... a buddy of mine made a 9.4-second pass with his 25th T/A, and the top flew off at about the 1/8th mile point.... he forgot to latch it because the handle wasn't visible behind the roll cage halo. He borrowed my top for the next few passes.... so one of my t-tops has now run 9.4@150mph, and my rear springs have made an 8.60@160mph pass....... unfortunately not in my car.

Ahhh, forgot you had the roll bar. Stupid me lol . So, I'm guessing you have Baxter-approved springs, huh? lol
