  • cleaning MAF cures split BLMs??

I don't know if my case is rare, but after I cleaned the MAF with electrical contacts cleaner (1 sensor was black from grime, and the others were a bit dirty), the BLMs have been pretty close of each other. My idle is now 130/128, and was 131/121 before. During cruising, they stray no more than 3 off of each other. Previously, I've seen 140/120, 138/125, etc in that range when cruising. I thought my O2s and/or exhaust leak was causing the split, but apparently, cleaning the MAF did it Also, my idle is now at 575, rather than 550 previously. So I suggest anyone with this problem to try it...

It's always good to keep the equipment clean. I remove my throttle body and clean it every fall, as well as cleaning the MAF.

Cleanliness is next to Godliness. LOL

It can be cleaned. I remove the ends, then use carb cleaner and a paper towel to gently clean it. There are 3 little pods sooldered in it that require the most care. Spray it clean and very gently dab the pods until the dirt is gone. Be very carefull!

Yea...here it is with the ends removed. You can see how dirty one of the sensors was before I cleaned it. Now it looks as good as new.

A lot of the time, the trouble comes from an over oiled K&N filter getting it's oil on the MAF. So don't over oil it!
