  • Headlamps upgraded

So, I had one of the low-beams burn out on me. Since I was looking at upgrading them soon, I went ahead and bought a set of PIAA XTreme White 9006 and 9005 bulbs. Holy snap are these things bright . I still need to do some adjustmets, but they are waaaaaaay better than the stock bulbs. I actually didn't need to shave the base either, the bulbs went in the same amount as the stock units (tips were in as deep as each other). I'll post some pics soon. Special thanks to AmericanZ28 for all the help and Jeff for the pics

Here's the pics I took this morning. Here's a close-up comparison between the new bulbs and the fog lamps (which are about the same brightness as the OEM bulbs)...

    Here's a full-view shot...

    And the high-beams...

Gotta love being able to see better at night

Dude, it kills me every morning that I can't drive it right now . I need to register it, smog it, get insurance on it, fix the stupid Powermonster unit, put new tires on it, etc. etc. etc. I'm debating taking it back down to my dad's house in Fresno, at least it will be garaged there.

Anytime! Im glad to see that it all worked out fine for you! So how much did you spend on those PIAA? I know they're pretty expensive bulbs, which is why I've been holding off of them for now. So what housings did you use? GE, Silvania/Guide?

I used the Guide housings that were on the car. That was a piece of cake. Definitely a good upgrade to do. I paid $140 for both pairs, but this place...

            http://www.partsbynet.com/piaa-bulbs.html

...has them for only $55/pair plus shipping. I was going to get them online, but needed them that day. I need to tinker with the alignment, but these things are AWESOME!!!!!! Dude, if you were a girl, I'd kiss you lol The fog lamps look a little outta place now, but I'm not too worried about it at all.

Btw, just as a clarification, the GN isn't IN the weeds, but they are around her pretty close. She's ok underneath, and since the rain has stopped I can get out there and clean up. Thanks for all the concern guys, she appreciates it...as she starts naggin' at me again lol

Are you going to have your baby legal before the San Fran GM event? I would love to see those lights in person

The Z is legal, its the GN that's not. I may still try to get it street legal, but insurance is holding me up. Standard insurance would due, but should anything happen collector's insurance is what I want. Unfortunately, Hagerty (which is what Allstate uses) requires the car to be garaged . I may just say "screw it" and get regular coverage for now and take it to my dad's where I will switch it to collector's. Still haven't decided yet.

I would love to upgrade the lights on the T/A. Stock lights are a joke.

Ya know, that's exactly what we want to do with Craig's T/A too. If we can figure out which bulb it is, I'll make sure to let you know. I agree, the stock lights aren't worth the money.

New bulbs look good I agree with the rest, stock lights are garbage. I too have seriously considered changing them, especially after driving over 2 hours on I57 two sundays ago in the rain and fog at 2 in the morning coming home from a concert at the university of illinois. Visibility was at about 30 feet max, and to make it worse, some of the reflective markers were missing. Gotta love being in total darkness in the rain and not being able to see the road

That sux man about insurance for your GN as well as all the other things to get her street legal. Beautiful ride man....she's gettin tired of them weeds though, or being near the weeds She wants that asphault
