Mine is on an amp rack on the package tray. I use the little concealment flip panel to cover it up so it is not subject to sunlight. Mine is ventilated from underneath so it doesn't overheat as well.

I have my amp mounted to the floor over the gas tank. I didnt want to drill through to mount it so instead I got a plastic sheet the same size as the amp and bolted the amp to the plastic with the carpet sandwiched between.

The key to installing any amp is to get the proper wires. I spent around $100 on just wire to install mine. The power and ground are Huge wires and the speaker wires are all done in multi-strand (8 and 10) Kimber Kable It's good to buy extra long wires because it is better to be to long than to short.

It sounds like you need a JL Stealthbox.

When I say "over the gas tank" I mean the spot directly behind the back seat.

"Spot over gas tank" = "package tray". There's only three "average ability" places to put an amp in a 4th gen, on the bottom of the t-top storage area, on top of the gas tank (package tray) or mounted to the back wall of the car behind the taillight area. It's a PITA, but it's doable (been there, done that). The trick with that is putting a layer of foam on the amp so the tops don't move and break against the amp.

Otherwise you start getting into serious fabrication mode. Like gutting the back of the back seat and flush mounting the amp in it, removing the spare tire and making a custom amp rack in that area (not an option for those of us with nitrous), or some other heavy modification area. And you definitely need a stealthbox. Those boxes in the back window scream "Hey, come bust this $1,000 piece of glass and steal my woofers, please."

Hey man I mounted my amp underneath the front passenger seat.
Its a tight fit but it works just make sure know one gets in with wet feet.
I used a seat bolt for the ground if you needed to know.

What type of box are you going to put and where. If you are going to put a millhouse box, you are going in the right direction with the mount board on the back wall. I have one of them boxes that goes in the left rear cubby hole. I put a 10in sub and mounted the amp over the gas tank. The windows are so dark you cant see it anyway, but if you want to be safe just flip that board forward and its covered. And with all that said, that is alot of bass. Good luck
